There are many districts in New York that are worth mentioning; neighbourhoods that each have a special something which makes them unique and distinct. What they all have in common is that they are inhabited by New Yorkers. Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island and the Bronx are the five most emblematic neighbourhoods of New York. Some of New Yorks's districts stand out for the sheer numbers of the populations living there. Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx for example could be described as cities to themselves when it comes to the number of inhabitants. In the Bronx alone there are more than one and a half million inhabitants. Brookyln has more than 2.6 million inhabitants, equivalent to the third largest city in Spain.
Each place has its own unque specialness, Brooklyn stands out for its beaches like those of Coney Island- a summer retreat for many New Yorkers during their holidays and weekends; the Bronx boasts the largest Zoo in the USA; while Manhattan is home to Central Park.
Each neighbourhood of New York has its own peculiarities and special places. In the Bronx we find Harlem, the home of Jazz. Other legendary areas are Broadway with its theatres, and Soho and Chinatown. |
